Beads, Colors: For Witchery And More

A famous color stall in Analakely, Tana

Guess it’s one of most famous stalls in Pavillon Analakely though not everyone would buy those strands of beads. So vividly colourful.

Has been years since my first sight of this stall. The eyes used to get attracted to those ravishing color combinations. Still, the mind used to refuse to buy…(guess the guy who makes and sells them is used to such moves in front of his eye-catching stall)… until Today. No wonder. Not expensive, those beads… but widely known as charms/ beads used by old Malagasy wizards.

August 5, 2010 was the day I surrendered (so to speak). Bought those Malagasy-made plastic beads… Left my reluctancy aside.

Don’t let your cultural bias prevent you from making great things. Not that purchasing is a great thing. Rather, let’s see what will come out of those strands I acquired. Betting you’ll get… bewitched!
